The women workforce of Lianga Water District celebrated National Women’s Month (Pursuant to Republic Act (RA) 6949 s. 1990, Proclamation No. 224 s. 1988, and Proclamation No. 227 s. 1988) with a theme “We Make Change Work for Women” on March 22, 2019 at Prospero B. Pichay, Sr. Sports and Cultural Center, Lianga, Surigao del Sur. It highlights the empowerment of women as active contributors to and claimholders of development. This pursuit of development is also anchored on the commitment of “Malasakit at Pagbabago” or True Compassion and Real Change.

On one hand, a simultaneous activity was conducted by men workforce of Lianga Water District in observance of the World Water Day anchored with a theme: “2019 Leaving No One Behind” “Sa Tubig Walang Iwanan”. This is an adaptation of the central promise of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development: as sustainable development progresses, everyone must benefit. Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6) aims to ensure availability and sustainable management of water for all by 2030. One of the activities is the tree planting held at Simulao watershed, Barangay Diatagon, Lianga, Surigao del Sur.
